Days 2 and 3 – leaving Toulouse and arriving at Givors

Departing early in the morning, the group travelled by train from Toulouse to Carcassonne, enjoying a bit of the view since we were at the train. In Narbonne we changed again the train and we went through Nimes station. A few minutes after we arrived we picked another train and we went to Lyon. Finally , at the end of the afternoon, we picked again another train but to Givors village. There we spent two days. In this village we were welcomed by two representatives of the municipality of Givors, the twin city with Vila Nova de Famalicão. This city has a big Portuguese community living there. In this small city, we were offered a lovely stay. We had dinner in a restaurant with a Portuguese cook and we socialized with a Portuguese resident. We felt like we were at home.

We started the morning early at Givors. As soon as we left the apartment, we found a diverse market set up in the streets of Givors. We took the opportunity to buy some fruit and other products, then we had breakfast, once again with one of the representatives who welcomed us the previous day. After the typical French breakfast, we had a guided tour of the city. We visited various important spots: Saint Nicolas church, the Town Hall, the Media library, schools, social buildings, theater, museum, etc. We ended our morning with an explanation of the significance of bees in this city, as they represent teamwork. We finished the day by visiting the commercial area, then met to discuss upcoming activities. To bid farewell to Givors, we took advantage of the cooler evening to explore more of the city, returning to the apartment to rest.
